Stepworks launch iPhone applications development services

4 February 2009

Hong Kong based branding and marketing communications agency Stepworks has launched iPhone applications (apps) design and programming services in response to emerging trends in mobile communications and to provide clients with access to a complete range of marketing opportunities.

To mark the launch, the company has released the first in a series of proprietary apps targeting parents and children.

Stephen Barry, Managing Director of Stepworks said, "According to BusinessWeek, Apple is on target to sell over 40 million app compatible devices a year. Over 500 million apps had been downloaded by mid-January 2009. These are reaching a generally affluent and fast growing audience of influencers. We believe apps offer a valuable communications channel for certain client sectors."

The Stepworks pilot app is a fun re-telling of the classic children's story, The Little Red Hen. Beautifully illustrated, the app is available in English, Cantonese and Spanish and features interactive animation and sound effects. Children can read the story themselves, or listen to it narrated to them as they follow the text.

A series of similar apps of children's storybook favourites are in the pipeline for launch under the Kidztory brand.

The Little Red Hen is available for download via Apple's App Store for US$0.99. In the first week of its launch it had been downloaded in 12 countries across Asia Pacific, the US and Europe.
